Is your Nintendo DS Lite real or fake?
Updated 24 April 2009 There is a sudden influx of fake Nintendo DS Lite and these are really good quality fakes. Please let your friends know! We will use the limited edition Mario Red DS Lite for comparison.
The DS above is the fake one. The one at the bottom is the real deal. The fake DS Lite has a slightly bigger Mario logo. There will be no noticeable difference for a plain DS Lite. If we flip the DS Lite over... Original

Prominent differences 1. On the original DS Lite, the screw at the cartridge slot is black tri-wing screw. The fake one sports a normal silver cross screw 2. Serial numbers for US DS Lite starts with "UG", Korea DS Lite starts with "UKF", Local DS Lite starts with "USF". Fake ones do not start with alphabets. Or they might not have a serial number sticker in the first place. Your serial number will match the serial number on the box (for US sets) or manual (for Asia sets). 3. Shine the top cover against a strong light. The fake DS Lite housing is thinner than an original one. Light will shine through a fake DS Lite housing but not an original one.
